Flat Bar Touring Bike Hire
The Trek FX bikes are the ideal choice for a cycle tour of Scotland, cycling the North Coast 500, Speyside and Moray Coast, Caledonia and Hebridean Way or any of the cycling day trips around Inverness.
We buy new bikes each year to ensure reliability and safety and we've chosen the Trek FX2 Disc and FX3 Disc in recent years having had a great experience with these bikes in the past. It's a reliable and comfortable bike with a lightweight frame for a fast, efficient and enjoyable ride. It has hydraulic disc brakes for all weather stopping power and puncture-resistant tyres to keep you rolling.
The touring bikes are faster than mountain bikes on the road but can also cope with well maintained tracks like the towpaths by the Caledonian Canal and the "Caledonia Way". If you're planning the Great Glen Way or Loch Ness 360 you will need to hire a mountain bike.
The flat-bar touring bikes have luggage racks and full mudguards fitted as standard.
These bikes are compatible with the larger panniers which have a capacity of 50l+ per pair. We also have small phone holder bags that also have a space for snacks etc.
The panniers are waterproof but you should still use additional polythene bags for extra protection and to keep fresh dry clothing away from soggy smelly kit.
Each bike comes with helmet, pump, lock, lights, seatpack, inner tube and patches, tools and chain joining link. There are two bottle cages on every flat bar touring bike. There is more about the available accessories here.
Bikes are fitted with flat pedals as standard. We have a limited quantity of clipless pedals available for a flat price of £5 regardless of the duration of the hire. The types we stock are Shimano SPD & SPD-SL and Look KEO. Please enter the required quantity in the SPD box when booking and state the type and which bikes they are to be fitted to in the Extra Info section.
The standard saddle is fairly typical of a hybrid/touring bike and not particularly padded or severe. We have a few slightly wider saddles available and some gel saddle covers. Best to request when booking.
We are happy to fit your own pedals or saddle and it's fair to say that the most comfortable saddle is likely to be the one with which you are most familiar.
